This week’s show has us creating another super team, this time based on alien characters from the Marvel and DC universes. We also discuss alignment in D&D and whether it is still relevant and usable in games, as well as pulling characters from various media in as examples of certain alignments. We also talk about some new trailers for The Crimes of Grindelwald, Corbra Kai, and Titans.
This week we discuss the newest trailers for the Netflix shows Luke Cage, and Lost in Space. We talk about some of our favorite older (pre-90’s) sci-fi TV shows. The biggest topic of the week is our review, with spoilers, of Marvel’s Black Panther. We finish the show off by setting up our next super team matchup.
This week we talk about the news that one of our favorite writer/directors, Kevin Smith, had a massive heart attack. Luckily, he is going to be ok. We discuss his movies and how he was one of our inspirations for this podcast. We also tackle our Magical Super Teams this week. We put them together and let you, the listener, decide which team would win in a battle. We also touch on the latest Ready Player One trailer, US Men’s Curling Gold, and the Buffy the Vampire Slayer comic book.
This week we talk about Black Panther’s opening weekend (spoiler free). We discuss the new movie Annihilation opening this coming weekend, as well as the strange international distribution plan the studio is using. We get into Ash vs Evil Dead a bit, with their season 3 premier coming up. We also give our comic book movie Mt Rushmore, the 4 comic book movies deserving of being immortalized in stone for what they were and did for the genre. To wrap things up we set up the rules for our next super team showdown. All we can say is that it will be magical. Slainte!
This week we talk about the new movie trailers that were released during the Super Bowl as well as the days following it, including Solo: A Star Wars Story and Avengers: Infinity War. We talk a little bit about Deadpool 2 and the movie poster Ryan Reynolds posted. We get into the summer movie release list as well. We discuss space travel and the launch of the Rocket X Falcon Heavy. We set the rules for our first super team competition, as proposed by one of our listeners, and will present our teams next episode. All this plus the alcohol and our typical ramblings you’ve come to expect.
It’s that time of year again. Time for Russ to pack up his most precious belongings (comic books, video games, etc) and make the trek to Florida for the Bay Area Renaissance Festival (BARF). This week we talk about several trailers that have dropped or will be coming out soon, as well as some of our thoughts on those movies. We also talk about some of the things we’re hearing about the upcoming Black Panther movie. We take a look back at one of the first Marvel properties to get a movie series, Blade.
This week we get into a discussion about remakes, reboots, and reimaginings of movies and how there are a lot of people against doing this. We also talk about a strongly rumored remake which is supposed to be in the early stages of being made. We also talk sequels, a movie coming back to the theaters after 35 years, Blu-ray releases, Star Trek Discovery. We also take a few minutes to talk about how the “king” is dead, or at least seriously de-throned.
After a week of fighting the flu we were finally able to get together and talk. This week we discuss upcoming, for 2018, nerdy TV shows. We also get into the big engagement news from the X-Men comics. We talk a little bit about the X-Box One since Chris just got one. And then we try to end the show with a little humor. Don’t get the flu, it sucks.
This week we go gold. We talk about the Golden Globe awards that just took place. We also discuss the movie Kingsman: The Golden Circle, that came out last year and recently on Blu-ray and DVD. We get into some of the Flashpoint Batman comics as well as some talk about other Flashpoint and What If types of comics. Several times we’ve discussed the ages of comic characters and this week we discuss one time that there was a definitive age given to a character, Jean Grey, by putting a birth and death year on her tombstone after the Dark Phoenix saga concluded.
This week we say goodbye to 2017 by discussing a bunch of nerdy topics. We talk about video games, upcoming comic book milestones, the Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D show, and the Netflix movie Bright, including discussing some of the implications of having magical/mythical creatures living in the modern world would be. To wrap up the holiday season we also talk a little bit about our favorite holiday movies. We would like to wish everyone a happy and safe new year. Slainte!!
